Wininr: A Stale Leaderboard and a Missing Score Need Different Evidence

Compare event time, leaderboard update time and a personal record in Wininr discussions to distinguish an older snapshot from an unresolved score omission.

The personal record says seventy-two points, while the leaderboard still shows sixty. Calling twelve points missing may be premature if the leaderboard describes an earlier moment. Yet calling every mismatch a refresh delay would also hide real problems. In a Wininr discussion, three timestamps can make the difference. We will compare an event, a saved record and a published snapshot using one invented learning contest, then change only the evidence that matters.

Three clocks on one result

At 14:02 IST, participant P completes a task worth twelve points under the contest's written scoring example. Their previous total was sixty. At 14:03 the personal history shows the task accepted and a total of seventy-two. The leaderboard visible at 14:05 says “last updated 14:00” and lists sixty. The event happened after the snapshot's stated time. These observations therefore fit an older leaderboard without requiring a missing-score explanation.

Notice that 14:05 is the time the participant looked, not necessarily the time the table's data was refreshed. A phone clock and a page update label describe different events. Keep them separate. Pressing a browser or app refresh control may request new content, but the resulting table can still carry its own data timestamp. A newly opened screen is not, on its own, evidence that every statistic on it includes the latest completed task.

Now advance the same paper contest to 14:12. The table's label becomes 14:10 and P appears with seventy-two. The earlier mismatch is explained by comparing the two snapshots with the intervening accepted task. We have a complete example: sixty at 14:00, plus twelve accepted at 14:03, then seventy-two at 14:10. No promise about a particular service's refresh interval is needed. The explanation depends on the observed sequence, not a guessed waiting period.

When the later snapshot still differs

Change the final observation. At 14:12 the table says updated 14:10 but still shows sixty. This no longer fits the simple earlier-snapshot explanation as neatly. However, it does not yet prove a fault: perhaps the leaderboard counts a different task category or a different contest. Compare its scope with the personal history. A table for “weekly quiz” should not be expected to include a separate practice task merely because both produce learning points.

Suppose both records explicitly name the same weekly quiz, participant and scoring period. The personal task is accepted; seventy-two is visible there; the later leaderboard still shows sixty. The unresolved issue is now precise. Wininr readers can describe an accepted twelve-point event absent from a later matching summary. That is stronger evidence than the original screenshot pair, because update time and scope have been checked rather than folded into the vague statement “the ranking is wrong”.

A third case starts earlier in the chain. The personal history lists the task as Pending rather than Accepted and still totals sixty. Here the leaderboard and personal total agree. The question concerns the event's processing status, not an accepted score omitted from the leaderboard. Using the same twelve-point expectation across all three cases would confuse a future conditional amount with an already recorded amount. Read the event status before doing subtraction from the summary.

Ranking position is another field

A score can update while position remains unchanged. Imagine P rises from sixty to seventy-two, while the person above has eighty and the person below has fifty. P stays between them. That stable position does not establish that the score failed to update. Compare the score cell itself before interpreting the rank. Conversely, a changed position can result from other participants' records even if P's own total stays unchanged.

We would resolve the paper case by identifying the earliest place where expectation and evidence separate. Pending task: investigate the task stage. Accepted task with an older table: compare a later matching snapshot. Accepted task absent from a later table of the same scope: retain that specific discrepancy. This is a reasoning sequence, not a requirement to wait indefinitely. Any published processing schedule or error notice would add relevant information to the appropriate stage.

At the end of the successful example, seventy-two appears in both places and the timestamps explain why sixty appeared earlier. In the unresolved version, the same arithmetic leads to a narrower question. Wininr statistics become easier to read when event time, observation time and data update time keep their separate meanings. The useful distinction is between a record that has not yet entered a snapshot and one that should belong to the snapshot being examined.
