TOOBET: Follow an Enquiry Without Losing the Unanswered Question
Track a TOOBET information enquiry by retaining its original question, linking later details and separating answered points from the final unresolved item.
An enquiry can receive several replies and still leave its main question unanswered. A greeting, a request for details and an explanation of a different issue may all be useful, but they do not close the original point. For TOOBET readers following an information conversation, we use a question reference to preserve that point. The reference can be your own notebook label; it need not be a ticket number supplied by a service.

Q17 anchors the conversation
Our invented conversation begins with Q17: “Does completing a tutorial count towards the activity described in notice L4?” The reader adds the notice's date and quotes the sentence that mentions qualifying actions. This is one question about eligibility, not a request to list every current activity. The initial reference makes it possible to attach later messages to the same problem without relying on memory or repeating a whole conversation each time.
The first reply asks which tutorial the reader means. The reader answers, “Tutorial three, completed on 20 October 2026 at 17:10 IST.” That information narrows Q17; it does not replace it. Record it as an addition: Q17, detail A. Without that connection, a later person may interpret the completion time as a new timing complaint and answer a question the reader never intended to ask.
The second reply says that the tutorial page records completion after its last checkpoint. This explains how completion is recognised. It does not yet say whether that completion is an eligible activity action. The reader can acknowledge the useful part accurately: “The completion condition is clear.” Then retain the remaining question: “Does that completed tutorial qualify under notice L4?” This avoids treating every explanation as either entirely irrelevant or entirely sufficient.
Name the missing link
A quoted phrase helps define what remains. Suppose the notice says “selected learning tasks,” while the reply merely says “tutorials can be completed.” Those statements discuss different things. The unresolved link is whether tutorial three belongs to the selected tasks. Repeating the whole original message is unnecessary if a short follow-up names the exact gap. A conversation becomes easier to answer when its unresolved part gets smaller rather than expanding with each exchange.
Now imagine a third reply identifies a dated list: tasks one, two and four qualify for L4. Under that fictional list, tutorial three does not qualify, even though it was completed correctly. Q17 has an answer and an evidence reference. The outcome may not be what the reader expected, but it addresses the actual question. A specific negative answer can resolve an enquiry more fully than a friendly positive message about a different subject.

For TOOBET discussions, keep the scope of that answer intact. “Tutorial three is excluded from L4's dated list” is narrower than “tutorials never count.” The latter would extend one answer to every tutorial and every activity. If a later notice L5 includes tutorial three, that can coexist with the earlier answer. Preserve the notice identifier and applicable date so a resolved question does not become a misleading general rule when quoted elsewhere.
Sometimes the third reply does not identify the task list. Then the honest record is partly resolved: completion confirmed, activity eligibility unresolved. That is not the same as receiving no help. It tells a new respondent what has already been explained and prevents unnecessary repetition. The next message can ask only for the task-list reference. This is a record of the conversation's content, not a guess about message delivery, reading indicators or the intentions of the person replying.
A good closing note for the resolved version reads: “Q17 answered using L4's task list dated 20 October: tutorial three is not included. Completion itself is not disputed.” The note contains a conclusion, its scope and the distinction that caused confusion. For the unresolved version, replace the conclusion with “task-list applicability still needed.” Both notes remain useful even if the conversation later contains unrelated updates, greetings or announcements.
Our TOOBET example ends when the link between the completed tutorial and the applicable task list is established. Three replies were not the measure of completion; answering Q17 was. The method is simple to test: can another reader identify the original question, see what later details changed and name the final unanswered point, if any? If yes, the conversation has retained its meaning rather than becoming a collection of messages whose relationship must be guessed.
