IND Club Progress: Half of Which Goal?
How counts and percentages describe different aspects of an activity, without inventing IND Club's progress formula.
“Halfway there” sounds precise, but it leaves one question unanswered: halfway through what?
IND Club from DROPTI describes challenges, milestones and progress tracking in its Google Play entry. It does not publish a progress formula or confirm that progress is displayed as a percentage. The arithmetic below explains how such language works, not a verified screen.
A fraction needs a completed part and a whole
Three completed items out of six is half. Three completed items out of twelve is one quarter. The amount completed is identical; the target is different.
That means a percentage cannot be interpreted without knowing its denominator. “50%” might describe one activity's target rather than half of an entire app or half of all possible achievements.
These are original mathematical examples. IND Club is not being assigned a six-item or twelve-item challenge.
Progress toward a goal is not a resource balance
A progress indicator describes a relationship to an objective. A balance describes an amount held. Completing half an objective does not automatically mean receiving half a benefit.
Some conditions are evaluated only at completion; other systems recognise intermediate stages. Which applies must come from the relevant activity rule. The store description does not settle that detail for IND Club.
This also explains why “I made progress” and “I unlocked the next milestone” can be different statements. Progress can occur before a completion condition is met.
A clearer way to talk about the activity
Name the goal before naming the percentage. “Half of this task” communicates less than “three of the six required items”, but both are more precise than “half the app”.
If the total requirement is not stated, avoid calculating a remaining reward from the visible progress. A number that measures completion does not supply a price, exchange rate or guaranteed entitlement.
For this product, progress tracking is the published feature. A specific free allowance, membership benefit or percentage-based award is not. The useful rule-reading skill is to keep the measured goal visible, so that a change in progress is understood on its own terms.
